Facebook versus Google+

There has been a lot of talking about Google Plus just after it launched. Facebook being the social media giants face challenges from the search engine giant, Google. In this post I compared the features of Facebook with Google Plus side-by-side.

Google Circles FaceBook Friend Lists
Google Circles are groups of friends. You can organize by topic. Facebook friend list allows user to group friends by topics
Drag and Drops feature makes easy to manage different groups. Managing friend list is not as easy like Google Circles.
You cannot exclude groups or friends from getting your updates. You can exclude groups or friends from getting your updates.
Google+ Stream Facebook News Feed
Looks similar to that of Facebook News Feed. You can update your status, share photos, videos, links, your location with friends. We can view what others updating, comment, share their updates and +1 them. Unlike google+ photos and videos can’t be uploaded instantly from mobile device, though we can use “upload email” to update status or post images or videos directly from mobiles. You can Ask Question and polls on facebook wall, which is not yet possible at Google+.
Google+ Hangout Facebook Video Calling
Excellent feature for face-to-face meet up with up to 10 friends. Chat can be private or public and allows you to watch YouTube videos with group and you can’t kick anyone out. It can be used as a group discussion by disabling video or audio. Facebook video calling doesn’t seem to support group chat. Skype has a group chat feature so it’ll be easy to bring that on Facebook. Unlike Hangout, it does require an accept by the initiator of that chat.
Google+ Huddles Facebook Chat
Allows you to do group-text chat on your Android powered mobile, application for iOS is under development. Huddle give you ability to keep in touch, even on the move. Facebook doesn’t provide official chat client for Mobile. However you can use any third party app – AIM. Facebook supports XMPP for building custom apps.
Google+ Location Facebook Place
You are just one click away from adding location to your post on stream. From your Android app you can do check-in, share your location with friends and also see updates of friends from near by location. We cannot add our location to our updates right from the Facebook wall. Check-in places, share your location and get updates from near by friends are possible on Facebook for mobile.
