Google+ Problems on Beta Phase

Google recently launched a new social networking site called Google+. Since this is still an invitation only on beta version, it still has a lot of bugs and user’s usability that Google needs to fix. There are many users who still waiting to get an invite from Google+. Instead of throwing open its doors with a big splash Google is letting Google+ seep into the world virally. You can’t yet just go sign up; you have to be invited by someone who’s already a member. On this contrary there is another major problem I came across. If I want to send Google+ invite to my friends and click the invite button, it reaches to all users listed at my end. There is no such option to select the users you actually want to send the invitation.

Google+ is not available to all mobile applications. Android is the first mobile application that has been hit by Google+. IOS users may get the app in the future. Apart from this, there is a serious problem on Google+ image copyright, which I mentioned, in my earlier post. In this section Google clearly states to have the complete license of your images and hence can use, modify or distribute your images to other users. I personally feel that it’s big risk to share any images with Google+.

There are some shouts from the users end too which I would like to mention here.

1. Feed displays recently updated time despite the original post instead of the messages in chronological order.

2. Timeline should be customizable.

3. The entries are not in chronological order. I keep seeing the same things I have seen since yesterday, because they have a lot of +1′ s, and from time to time new content is interspersed throughout the flow.

4. Google + has to stop hitting message at the top of the current at any time there is a comment, and this change should be implemented as soon as possible.

Google+ is in its infancy, and many of the things mentioned are part of future versions or bugs that Google intends to fix though. No doubt it’s a big challenge for Google to build the trust for its users. Google+ does have some nice features. Hopefully, with the Huddle and Hangout features, Google+ can persuade users to use their service. Also, Google+ does give new users that do not have any social accounts, another option beside Facebook.

We wish all the best to Google and hope to have a user friendly and hassle free Google+ in the upcoming days.
